AudioQuest JitterBug FMJ - USB Data & Power Filter

Released May 2021, JitterBug FMJ is a new version of the original Jitterbug, by AudioQuest.

Many tens of thousands of music lovers are already enjoying better audio enabled by the original AudioQuest JitterBug USB Noise Filter, which you can find plugged into the USB ports of cars, laptop computers and ethernet streamers everywhere.

The new JitterBug FMJ USB Data & Power Noise Filter - with its Full Metal Jacket - can be used in series (inline) or in parallel, significantly reducing contamination from RF noise generated by a computer, car, or other device. JitterBug FMJ also thoroughly addresses environmental RF noise taking advantage of this vulnerable interface.

The new metal case is the most obvious change, though even the seemingly innocuous hinged rubber piece covering the JitterBug output is crucial to improved performance. That little black door is RF-proof thanks to the material being substantially RF-absorbing carbon.

Use one JitterBug in series between any computer, smartphone, NAS, streamer, or in-car audio system and a USB input. For an additional sonic improvement, use a second JitterBug in another unoccupied USB port — in parallel to the first — except with JitterBug FMJ’s front door closed.

Using any JitterBug in series with an AudioQuest DragonFly Black or Dragonfly Red always boosts their performance. However, it is best to experiment when putting a JitterBug in front of a DragonFly Cobalt — which itself employs some of the same filtering technology, and so two filters in series can either help or hurt performance depending on specific equipment and context.
