Chord have finally announced Chord Poly at CES 2017 in Vegas. This multi function bluetooth, wifi and sd card adapter fits perfectly with the multi award winning MoJo that has gained a mass following since its release.
You initially wonder why the name Poly. Chord chose it as the name is derived from the ancient Greek word meaning ‘a large number’ or ‘many’. This name is pretty ideal for a product capable of incredible functionality. Poly for good reason doesn’t have a display.
When connected to the award-winning Mojo DAC/headphone amplifier, Poly can conveniently slip into a pocket, backpack or handbag. Poly doesn’t need to be carried in the hand or regularly checked like other players as it is controlled fully via the smartphone you already own.
With most people already owning a smartphone, Poly can remove the need for a cable connection to Mojo as Poly remains connected via Wi-Fi and can also utilise Bluetooth. With the built in card reader it also frees up space on your phone as music isn’t required to be kept locally any more.
Poly can use AirPlay to stream your music from Apple devices or play direct from Poly’s SD card slot. Streamed music services can be enjoyed over Wi-Fi, including files from networked storage devices (NAS), plus Bluetooth connectivity provides further flexibility.
Users are able to choose their preferred playback software and it’s even possible to use advanced services such as Roon, for a breath-taking user experience. Poly’s capabilities are truly incredible and have only been made possible through the integration and design of cutting-edge technologies developed by Chord Electronics and many brilliant design partners.
Poly is not a simple product, but it is simply elegant! Poly severs the physical link between devices and frees up the smartphone to be used as normal, giving real versatility and connectivity, anywhere, anytime. This wonderful technology has been compacted and compressed, condensing a high-level PC, data server, DLNA streamer, Wi-Fi hub, Bluetooth module and SD card reader, along with some of our planet’s most sophisticated software, into a device about one-third the size of a packet of cigarettes.
Lastly Poly includes a battery and fast-charging circuitry too.

WiFi device set up: Manually enter SSID of device and enter password. Poly will remember previously connected devices and automatically connect.
Bluetooth set up: Select Poly as the output device and input code 0000.
Airplay set up: Simply select Poly and instantly airplay to the device.
Name of device: This is user configurable, however by default it is named ‘Poly’. This feature is enabled to allow Poly to be used in zones. For example, an owner of two Mojo’s can label one unit that is used within a static system as ‘Home Mojo’ and a Mojo for on the go as ‘On the go’.
User upgradeable: No – App controlled.
