Ear pad design is extremely important for all types of headphones. Good quality earpads provide comfort whilst listening and make a huge difference to the fit & feel. Different ear pad materials change the sound, reduce background noise, and can alter the heat absorption / retention characteristics of your headphones too.
If your beloved headphones are feeling a bit worn-out, we suggest looking into replacing the earpads (and other component parts) instead of purchasing a new pair straight away. A little bit of TLC, and older headphones can look & feel like new again. Remember that earpads are consumable items, being constantly pressed against your warm ears, hair and body oils.
